On the minute, it’s a brand name that’s dividing opinion.
As idolized because it is hated, you need seen a certain amount of it everywhere, towards the great displeasure from the many critics, who assume that in France, Canada Goose may be the new Moncler inside a negative sense.
But on the reverse side in the fence, there are lots of fans who, for love nor money, would not spend a winter without their Canada Goose clothing (and who I think have only recently joined the club ).
Important: I lived in Montreal from your end of August 2012 to June 2013, thus i wore my Canada Goose Jacket Sale in various conditions (from nearly -20°C with wind, approximately 8°C as i returned to France for three weeks), and so i think I actually have a rather extensive, clear view on the standard of the product.
So, like a lover of men’s fashion, beautiful materials and good fitting clothing: what do I think about bulky parka?
But before I report back, I’d love to take the time to consider Canada Goose’s brand image, which happens to be rather ambiguous…

Ah…the price. Here is the flag the critics of Canada Goose proudly wave. For most haters (and believe me there are actually lots) you’re a sucker when you buy a Canada Goose because:
Actually, everything will be better within an ideal world if Canada Goose wasn’t so expensive, as including the biggest haters are unanimous over the caliber of the pieces.
Considering the standard of the item, you get a lot for your investment. I’ve looked and honestly, you can not find anything cheaper with the exact same quality (warning, my criteria failed to just boil as a result of ‘it has got to keep me warm’, I’ll return to a bit afterwards).
People often speak with me about North Face, which surprises me each time. As if there’s an incredibly expensive brand, it’s that. Honestly, to cover nearly 450 dollars for a 100% synthetic parka (fur and down), made in China, now that’s VERY expensive for what exactly it is. Find out more about synthetic vs down insulation here
Then there’s one factor that’s never considered through the critics: the cut.
Because it must be noted that it’s hard to find parkas cut and also a number of the Canada Goose designs. I’ve rightly said some designs, since there are some which make you peer just like a walking refrigerator.
walking refrigeratorSnow Mantra, 1200 Canadian dollars. It’s the warmest design, guaranteed to make you stay warm as low as -60°. It’s made use of by Alaskan miners and people who are employed in the oil industry in far-flung icy parts around the globe. There’s a strap on the shoulder that could help you save in desperate situations. You won’t look anything special using this lying on your back, but at the very least you’ll stay alive.
military inspirationBanff, probably the most modified model of the emblem, with a nice enough military inspiration. It’s only flaw? No pockets to help keep your hands warm: it’s within your interest to obtain some gloves!
Like a side note, when you’ve spent the last 5yrs looking for the very best cut items of clothing for the figure, it’s a weighty argument. But I completely realize that it’s not always the truth for anyone. Within my case, I simply can’t overlook it.
‘Yes, but you’re investing in a brandname!’
I’ll be honest together with you, that’s things i thought in the first place, but it really isn’t the truth.
Really, not at all. For instance, Quartz Nature is really a lesser known Quebec brand containing exactly the same prices as Canada Goose. Likewise, Kanuk, which happens to be 100% a Quebec brand (the workshop is just nearby to my house) is more expensive than Canada Goose, with prices easily exceeding the 800 dollar mark!
KanukA Quartz Nature parka, 620 dollars, having a quality that’s equivalent to Canada Goose, although with a totally different brand identity for Quebecers, because the products are made in Quebec (french-speaking). And also in that price, nobody dares to advise that you’re only paying for a brand…
Why these prices? The fur that you see about the hoods is costly. As a point of interest, Kanuk sells interchangeable furs to the hoods for between 200 and 300 dollars. And you can also find no secrets: for a piece that’s not manufactured in China, with down and high quality finish, you quickly make it to the 500/600 dollar price tag, or even more. It’s the real worth of things.
Kanuk (THE ultimate Quebec coat brand, but which costs a lot of money which is aimed at a rather older audience) has this fur strip which alone costs…270 dollars!
I’ve gone off on the slight tangent, however it seemed necessary because, in my opinion, Canada Goose is a that is certainly unfairly stigmatized.
Right, so what’s it really like wearing a Canada Goose parka on a regular basis?
There’s no point in drawing out the suspense: during the cold months conditions of Montreal, it’s spectacular.
I am just not surprised the brand is given to workers in a few governmental bodies, simply because you have the feeling that its design is caused by a hellish experience with the cold.
In my opinion, there are loads of brilliantly thought through details. That goes through the wire round the hood towards the thick, robust zipper (a detail sometimes missing from North Face designs, hello on the uphill battle when you’ve got gloves on) on the two pairs of pockets to your hands lined completely with fleece, without forgetting the thick fleecey chin-protector.
And would it really keep you warm?
Completely. It’s just as if you’ll never feel the cold again. Even that slight morning freshness, or when you’re awaiting the bus, or when you walk home after having a winter’s particular date, you will be never cold. I can’t remember being cold once this winter. The protection against the wind is exceptional. One weekend, I had been in a carnival in Quebec, that is to mention spending six hours outside using a temperature that’s approaching the -20°s, but with some wind (I do not know how much this g0ose exactly how the temperature feels, but say at the very least an additional -10°) and it needs to be noted that you’re protected perfectly in the cold. Even at -20°. Even the size of the zipper is protected, which means the wind just never gets near to the inside your parka.
What’s more, the hood is super well-built, and although you may don’t put it up, it protects your ears. Basically this hood that protects the head perfectly from high winds is very great, really effective.
Alternatively, these aren’t the garments for any sustained sporting activity. If you’re skiing at -15° and it’s windy, you’re definitely going to sweat. Originally, Canada Goose Sale are intended for workers doing plenty of standing around (which explains why bouncers love the manufacturer). Extreme mountain climbers tend to consider brands like PHD, with equally impressive technical features. The Wiggy brand has some completely fire-proof parkas…
Nonetheless we’re still lightyears away from a Wooyoungmi coat owning an absolutely perfect cut. But having tested a couple of, Canada Goose is just one of those rare parka brands to cherish the cut of some of their designs. Therefore I was surprised to locate how the shoulders of Banff, Chateau, Ontario and Citadel designs (probably the most ‘tight-fitting’ designs, all things relative) happen to be labored on and therefore are relatively high. If chosen well to your size, the parka doesn’t hang off the shoulders, it’s neat and tidy.
Finally, and that i was surprised, it is always the situation with the most urban pieces that a size S is a ‘true S’. Similarly, Canada Goose even does a size XS which happens to be good to learn.
