"Happier at Home" Book Party & Giveaway

I was honored to attend a book party for Gretchen Rubin's new book, Happier at Home. I've seen Gretchen speak twice and both times she inspires and gets me excited about living my best life. Her previous book, The Happiness Project, was filled with great advice, anecdotes and principals for being happier in your life. In her new book, she dives deeper and discusses what we can do in our homes to cultivate a sense of safety, inspiration and calmness.

I'm so excited to share this great book with you that I've decided to give away the copy I received at the party! All you have to do is leave a comment on this post telling me ONE thing that makes you happier at home, OR one thing you would like TO DO to be happier at home. Here's mine:

I am happier at home when I spend time on my screened porch reading in the hammock.

To be happier at home, I would like to tackle all the clutter in my studio and have a place for everything.

I really look forward to hearing what everyone has to say! I'll leave comments open until Sunday, 6pm EST, do a random drawing and announce the winner of the book on Monday. Just one entry per person. In the meantime, here are more pictures.

Check out the full set of my pictures on Flickr, as well as Maggie's pictures.

The Go Mighty team of Maggie, Sarah, Laura and Amber have also posted about all the details!

Check out the gifts that were given to each guest.

The party guests were all beautiful, inspiring women.

There was lots of good stuff to Oooo and Ahhh over, including Laura's homemade pickles!

You can also enter to win a complete set of gifts!

Here's a picture that was taken by Sheri Silver of me at the party with my partner in crime Jill Vaughn from Terra Savvy. We had such a great time!

Most of all though? I'm looking forward to hearing what makes each of you happier at home.

To be happier at home I need to clean my apartment. It's horrendous. Or maybe just find a new place to live. A clean one.

I am happier at home when all the chores are done and the only thing left to do is pat the dog and snuggle on the couch.

I'd be happier at home if the home renos were done!!!

There were some killer shoes at that party! xo

I am happiest at home when I let all the chores (you know, the endless ones) go and actually sit down and enjoy my children!!

Keeping with the whole cleanliness theme here- I would be happier at home if I could afford someone to come in a do those endless chores... lol...

I am Happy at home when my whole family is home=3 kids and me and my husband. I always get all the house chores done so,when Rob comes home from work....we are all together, eating together, talking together and laughing together. It's my happy place! and life is just complete!

I am even More Happy at home, when my kids are all tucked in their beds, sleeping and Rob and I can sit, talk and sip our drinks and talk about our day, thoughts or whatever... {in silence without children in the background or hanging on my leg.} To me it's very important to have that "alone" time with Rob... keeps us knowing each other and excited to spend that later part of our day together.

And to be More happy at home, I would like to clean up my basement... I mean like REALLY clean it. It's kind of like the catch all for everything in my house... And its annoying, and disorganized and most of the time I can't find what I am looking for. So it would make me SUPER happy to clean it, or find someone to clean it, or make my husband clean it! :)

I'm happiest at home when it is warm enought to have all the doors and windows open. I would love a screened porch though, that would make me even happier!

To be happier at home, I would like to be in the present moment with my family as much as possible, truly experiencing the ups and downs.

I'm happier at home when I do my grocery shopping on Monday! Hooray for planning ahead. It makes my life easier :)

I am happiest when I'm at home or being home in the Philippines since I am working in Singapore.
While still on the plane going home the feeling of excitement surges as the time approaches, you even wanted to be there instantly. When I'm am at home I am happiest with mama cooking food for I will be able to eat my favorite dishes. I am happiest sharing the room with my sister's family with my favorite niece.I am happy because time spent is quality time, my friends will schedule a dinner with you and stay late night having coffee while sharing some updates. I am happy at home just having my vacation and being away from a fast paced life in Singapore. I am happiest at home knowing I am with people who will not leave me no matter what because they are mu family. I am happy relieving this feeling to recharge and drive me going back to Singapore to work. I am happiest being at home because indeed "there is no place like home"

I'm happier at home as I "nest"-- with my first baby on the way, the past few months prepping my house for his or her arrival (decluttering, organzing, redecorating, tackling a put-off to do list) have made me feel, for the first time, like my house is becoming a home.

I am happier at home when the music is on, I'm cooking a healthy dinner in the kitchen and the kids are happily playing together and I stop and look around to take it all in. Those moments are the best, like hitting the pause button in our hectic lives and feeling the simple joy of that exact moment.
To feel happier at home I need to do that more!

I am happier at home when I actually have a moment to BE home alone. My husband is a writer and works from home and right now our boys are in that month of no school/no camp, underfoot all the time. I love them all but have ZERO home alone time, and I do so like a little peace and quiet now and then.

Connecting relationally in the moment is what makes me happier at home. Not neglecting relationship for things, schedules, or the never ending 'To Do List'.

I am happier at home when I have everything organized, but allow some freedom - home should be a place of relaxation, not a source of stress.

I am happy at home when I look past my monitor and see our crabapple tree with all of the small bright red apples before my eyes. The quiet street with dagwalkers and moms makes it even better
