Painting and Adventures

I'm in the middle of my second online painting class and between that and our recent vacation in Canada, I have not been making as much time to write as I would like. The good news is that I have been enjoying excellent adventures and doing fun, creative things off line, so when I have some time to sit down and reflect about what's going on, I will have lots of good things to share. If you want to see a few things in real time, be sure to check out Twitter and Flickr. I post in those places almost daily.

Did you see my interview on Classic Play for the Creative Family Series? It was such an honor to be included and it really reminded me that before everything else, I am a creative person. That is the place that I feel most comfortable in and it's where I need to be focusing my time.

I'm also looking forward to the BlogHer 2012 conference this week. Will you be there? If so, please let me know on Twitter! It's my first BlogHer, but after attending Camp Mighty, ALT Summit and Mom 2.0, I feel so much more comfortable around the blogging crowd. Still, with thousands of people coming to New York for this epic event, I'll be reading a few tips from Mom 101, Kristen Howerton and Cassie Boorn to get ready. I still need to plan my schedule and pack my bags, which is kind of crazy since I just unpacked them, but I am really enjoying all the travelling and fun.

Hope you are also having a great summer and getting off the computer to enjoy life a little. I just read Miranda July's book It Chooses You and it was a great reminder that sometimes for us creative types to do our best work, we need to seek out real people and real places and listen to the stories that we find there. Sitting in front of the computer is generally not the best way to experience life. You should read it too. If you are anything like me, you will be totally inspired.

Can't wait for your take on BlogHer. Alt is the only conference I've been to so far. I'm excited about Camp Mighty and I'd like to make it to Mom 2.0 next year!

I haven't read the Miranda July book yet, but I want to!

I can't wait to see what it's all about too! Obviously it's much bigger, and I think the focus is more on writing and business and less on design. We shall see! Jill and I are driving in this afternoon and I still have to PACK! Going to do that now.

The Miranda July book sounds great. There seems to be so much floating around about slowing down the online life and amping up the real life. I've done it too lately and it feels really good.

I look forward to seeing you at Camp Mighty. And check out the Alt site for Akt NYC - I think some tickets may be available.
